This was my first Total Solar Eclipse where I needed to travel. We booked a cruise with Travel Quest on the ship MSC Sinfonia. The ports which we visited were Genoa, Naples and Syracuse in Italy. Then we sailed towards Egypt at the port of Alexandria and visited Cairo. From there we continued to Tobruk in Libya.
The next day we were taken by bus to the Eclipse Site which was about 2 hours driving south of Tobruk. The weather during the Eclipse was great. We had clear skies with no single cloud. After an amazing Eclipse we visited the Tobruk WW II Battle Site. Then the ship continued to Tripoli, where we visited the great ruins called Leptis Magna. Afterwards we moved to Malta, and from there to Salerno and back to Genoa.
